Homespun is widely used in textile field currently, but it is notoptimistic used in clothes. Investigate its reason, first is it looks tacky on the color collocation,second is the old style that lack of new, last is the limitations of the design level.Even so, we still should see the development potential of homespun in clothing market, thecharacteristics of natural environmental protection and the plain sense that the homespuncontains, is conform to people’s wish that pursuit of natural, yearning rural life and happy toenjoy life, Some people also want to reflect their culture attainment by that. For a kind ofpsychological satisfaction, they tend to choose clothing that conform to their identity.In view of the insufficient of homespun which used in fashion design, the author thinks thatwe should do further exploration of it, analysis of the formal language and summarize thetechniques of expression and characteristics of the outward appearance that constituted. First,divided homespun into three categories：yarn dye homespun, dyeing homespun and cross-stitchhomespun; then, explore the formal language of homespun from texture representation, color,pattern and larghezza selvedge, four aspects.Things are constantly changing, the formal language of homespun has new extension invarious aspects, and that also has an impact on homespun itself, on the one hand, change theproperties of the fabric, change the lat into textured so that make it has more decorative; changethe thin into thick so that make it has more volume and weight; make the soft into hard so thatmake the fabric has a certain ability of shaping. On the other hand, changed the fabric style ofhomespun, make the plain become diversification, and expand the scope of the use in the design.Use the effect of application that after the change in modern fashion design, on the one hand,inherit the plane type of application in traditional clothing; on the other hand, try the applicationof vertical type, summarized the design method in modern fashion design from two aspects, and choose one of them to do the experimental design practice.
