The Study Of Lace And Application In Fashion Design

Lace, which was invented in Europe in the 16th century, is deeply loved by people for its fancy style and elegant appearance. Before the 20th century, lace was used in clothing as a decorative part. After that time, with the development of technology, lace has tended to play a more and more important role in modern fashion design. Especially in recent years, lace was often used in clothing as self fabric.This paper analyzes lace in terms of material and aesthetics. Look back upon its application in design between the 16th and 19th century, comparing different fashion styles in different periods, we studied and concluded the development and change of lace using method after analyzed different kinds of modern clothing.In order to ascertain its effect to the whole design, lace was used as a formal language. We probed into the regulation of formal beauty through the combination of art and design theory. This paper will inspire the innovation of fashion designing.
