Study Tian Yuanshu Development And Its Influence From The Cultural Perspective

A lot of great mathematical achievements were made during the Song and Yuan dynastywhich is a special period in the Chinese traditional mathematical history. For example, TianYuan Shu and some other achievements took the leading position in the world. Meanwhile, alarge number of mathematicians sprang up. They wrote a large number of mathematical worksand pushed the ancient Chinese mathematics to the peak. But this didn’t last so long. Based onthe background above, the thesis studies the cultural history of mathematics about the develop-ment and decline of Tian Yuan Shu, researches the development direction and differencesbetween Chinese and western ancient mathematics, reveals the reasons of the differences andanalyzes the shortcom-ings and disadvantages of traditional Chinese mathematical culture.The research adopts the study method of culturology, uses research paradigm of mathema-tical history, cultural history and mathematical education, together with the methods of internaland external history, compares Chinese and western ancient mathematics and values, andprovides an objective evaluation, so as to see the reasons produced by the differences betweenChinese and western mathematics more clearly. Meanwhile, by understanding objectively short-comings in the Chinese traditional mathematical history. the thesis further explores how to drawlessons from and study western mathematics.In terms of research contents, the thesis innovates perspectives and study content, thus canmake up for the deficiency of comparison between Chinese and western mathematical values inthe current researching on the culture of Tian Yuan Shu.
