Thallus of the lichen genus Pannaria and its allied genera foliose to squamulose, areclassified into Peltigerales, Lecanoromycetes, Ascomycota, Fungi. The genus Pannariaand its allied genera are the important part of lichens resources in China. The studies of Pannaria and its allied genera from China are performed using themethods of morphology, anatomy, lichen chemistry on the basis of identification of morethan700specimens from19provinces and autonomous regions of China which aredeposited in lichen section of Herbarium of Mycology, Academia Sinica (HMAS-L),Herbarium of Cryptogams, Kunming Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica (KUN), LichenSection of Botanical Herbarium, Nanjing Normal University (HNNU) and Lichen Sectionof Botanical Herbarium, Shandong Normal University now.1species of Erioderma,9species of Fuscopannaria,3species of Kroswia,1species of Leioderma,10species ofPannaria,5species of Parmeliella,1species Protopannaria,1species of Psoroma,1species of Vahliella are reported in the paper. One species new to science, eleven speciesnew to China and one species new to China mainland. New to science: Kroswia episporasp. nov; New to China: Fuscopannaria protensa, Fuscopannaria cheiroloba, Pannariaandina, Pannaria elatior, Pannaria ramulosa, Pannaria subfusca, Pannaria tavaresii,Parmeliella appalachensis, Parmeliella himalayana, Parmeliella triptophylla, Psoromahypnorum; New to China mainland: Kroswia crystallifera. The study summarizes research history and current situation of the lichen genusPannaria and its allied genera. Detailed descriptions and discussions on the morphology, anatomy, chemistry and distribution of each species in China with keys to genera andspecies are provided, and the similarities and differences between them and other similarspecies are compared. The lichen genus Pannaria and its allied genera contain depsidones, terpenoids, fatty acids, which are detected by CT and TLC. In addition, HD pictures of theimportant characters of each species are provided, in order to establish Herbarium oflichen figures. This study made up the gaps of systematic study about the lichen genus Pannaria andits allied genera in China. This study also further improved distribution data of the lichengenus Pannaria and its allied genera in China, provided the basis for the future research ofmolecular systematics, and also provided data for writing of Flora Lichenum SinicorumPeltigerales Ⅱ.
