The third generation wave model SWAN was applied to simulate3typhoon waves in Taiwan Strait driven by different typhoon wind models. Then the distribution of typhoon wave was simulated when typhoon stayed in the Fujian coast or the middle of Taiwan Island. Two cold waves early in2013was also simulated using remote sensing wind which is corrected by the buoy measured wind. The simulation of typhoon waves during0813SINLAKU,0815JANGMI and0908MORAKOT shows that the significant wave height driven by the Taiwan Strait Typhoon Wind Model(Chen,2006)fits best with the buoy observed data, with the mean absolute error and the mean peak error0.65m and0.16m respectively. That means the simulation of typhoon waves is successful, especially for the severe waves. Then we simulated the typhoon waves during typhoon USAGI in2013with this modeling scheme, the simulated waves shows good agreement with the buoy observed data, which means this modeling scheme is appropriate for the typhoon wave forecast in Taiwan Strait. The numerical experiment which typhoon stayed in the Fujian coast was taken out, and the result showed the distribution rules of the significant wave heights along the Fujian coast:①the maximum of the significant wave heights is in the right side of the typhoon center (the right-side from sea to land), which is consistent with the location of the maximum wind speed onshore;②the significant wave height decreases slowly from the right of the location of the maximum wind speed onshore;③the significant wave height decreases rapidly from the left of the location of the maximum wind speed onshore;④the significant wave height still has a low value from the typhoon center to the location of maximum wind speed offshore;⑤the significant wave height is almost zero at the location of maximum wind speed offshore. Those rules can explain the distribution of the typhoon waves when typhoon stops at a straight coast. The numerical experiment which typhoon stayed in the center of Taiwan Island was taken out, and the result showed the distribution rules of the significant wave heights along the mid-line in Taiwan Strait:both of the maximum significant wave heights driven by Chen typhoon wind model and Holland typhoon wind model occurred near the center of Taiwan Strait, and decreases from the center. The significant wave heights driven by Chen typhoon wind model is higher than that driven by Holland typhoon wind model with about1meter.
