The species diversity of garden plant in Zhengzhou were studied on the basis of urbangarden green space and “Zhengzhou Flora”. Thus the plant community of campus in ZhengzhouCity was surveyed useing typical sampling method, the project includes the trees, shrubs andherbaceous plants in campus green space, compared and analyzed species composition,speciesdiversity, and community characteristics.The results of study shows that:1.species diversity of garden plant in Zhengzhou City(1)Through investigation and statistics, garden plant in Zhengzhou City (excludingcultivated in greenhouse) has118families;388genera;673species;80varietas;19forma;54cultivar. Gymnosperm has7families;21genera;45species;5varietas;14cultivar. Angiospermhas111families;367genera;628species;75varietas;19forma;40cultivar. Dicot has96families,316genera;551species;70varietas;18forma;35cultivar. Monocot has15families;51genera;77species;5varietas;1forma;5cultivar.(2) Through summary of the investigation, there were129species,32varietas,6forma,36cultivar, involving56families,124genera that didn’t recorded in “Zhengzhou flora”(3)There were299trees,240shrubs,20vines,267herbs in urban city of Zhengzhou.Evergreen woody plants have137species, including83trees,52shrubs,2vines; Deciduouswoody plants have522species, including216trees,188shrubs,18vines.(4) Medium-family plays an important role in118families of garden plants in ZhengzhouCity, the mainly compositions of the family in this area are mediun-family (54.24%) and largefamily (42.98%). The number of Rosaceae species is the most of all statistics, including27genera,112species.(5) Single-genera is the largest proportion of all genera of garden plant in Zhengzhou City,accounting for62.08percent of the total numer of genera in Zhengzhou. Rosa is the most numberof species,contains18species.(6) Geographical distribution type of familiy and genus in built-up area of Zhengzhou wasstudied. The results showed that: the floristic elements of Zhengzhou are rich, mainly composedby widespread, north temperate and pantropic. And family of temperate is the most, it reflects thecharacteristics of varies from the north subtropical zone to the warm trmperate zone.2.The structure of plant comunity in campus of Zhengzhou City(1)Plant community in campus of Zhengzhou City has192species (including varietas, formaand cultival), belonging to76families,131genera. The woody plants have165species; herbalplants have27species. There are15species of gymnosperms,174species of dicotyledon,18species monocotyledon. Rosaceae is mainly woody plant, Gramineae is mainly Herb.(2) The highest frequency of tree layer plants are privet, palm, cedar, Sophora japonica,Populus tomentosa, Magnolia, Sophora japonica, sycamore, camphor tree, a total of9, accountingfor10.71of the total species number of tree layer;the higest frequency of shrub layer plants areosmanthus, crape myrtle, rose, boxwood, palm, Heather, Bauhinia, Euonymus japonicus, Prunuscerasifera, hibiscus, Pittosporum tobira, Yucca gloriosa, coral tree, Lamei, a total of14, accounting for the total amount of the11.97%species in shrub layer; the highest frequency of Herbaceousplants is Poa annua.(3)According to classificationg system in “the chinese vegetation”(The chinese vegetationEditorial Committee,1985),plant communities were divided into7plant type,34formations,92associations. Proportion of broadleaf deciduous foresr is the largest, including20formations,42associations. Sycamore forest, round Berlin, privet forest are highest frequent in92associations.(4) Analysis on the number of plant community species in campus,the consequence showsthat: it is the most that the number of plant community species is9in zhengzhou unversity. Theanalysis on plant diversity of university show that: Simpson diversity index and Shannon-Winerdiversity index of plant communities in different universities generally showed the same trend.,and keeped up with species richness index.
