The development of complexity science provides an effective tool forquantitative description of innovation network which is called complex network. Thecomplex network consists of nodes, which are mainly enterprises, and sides whichrepresent the relationship between nodes. By analyzing the characteristics of thenodes and sides, researchers design and model the evolution of the network and thenanalyze the related issues of innovation network according to the results of thesimulation output.With agent-based modeling, this paper constructed a complex network model ofinnovation network and mainly study two issues: first, what is the mechanism thenetwork feature affect the innovation pattern. The results showed network density andtie strength both influence the network innovation resources shared betweenindividuals and then make an affect on the performance. The performance would getbetter with the increase of both network density and tie strength, which is mainlybecause the two kinds of network feature could adjust the amount of shared resourcesand, after both grow to a certain value, individual innovation performance will nolonger have a obvious increase, which is mainly because in this case the limitation onthe enterprise innovation resources are no longer obvious. The ratio of innavationmode affects the overall tendency of innovation which determines what kind ofinnovation resources is more abundant and then impact the innovation performance ofdifferent modes. Simulation confirmed a positive correlation between the ratio ofinnovation mode and its performance. Second, how network feature affects theperformance of innovation balance mode. Simulation results showed that it is betterfor the innovation performance of individual to choose punctuated equilibrium modelwhen network density and tie sthrength are relatively small and it is better to use thedual balance mode when network density and tie sthrength are relatively large. Andthe advantage would get bigger with the decrease of enterprises using the better mode.The conclusion of this paper has some reference for enterprise to choose thesuitable innovation strategy. Firstly,all the enterprise in the innovation network shouldstrengthen the cooperation with others in order to common development. Secondly, itwill bring enterprise a huge promotion if the enterprise could grasp the mainstream of innovation and choose the right innovation balance mode. At last each innovationbalance modes has advantages and disadvantages. Companies should choose thesuitable stragegy accroding to the innovation network feature and other objectivefactors.
