The sustainable development of economy in Zhejiang province suffers more as the expansion of land usage in land indemnity, so deepening land intensive use has become an inevitable trend. To learn more about the role of land intensive utilization in development, a discussion on the interrelation between economic development and land use is raised. It applies statistical analysis, systematic analysis, system assessment, entropy method and coupling model as the research methods, targeting at economic development and land intensive use, and lays theatrical foundation with economic development, land intensive utilization and social synergetic. Firstly, the relationships are analyzed preliminarily. Secondly it is explored more in depth with statistical method to further the study into arctangent function and coupling model. Then we analysis spatial difference of the coupling system on two levels, one eleven cities and the other inter-provinces comparison. Finally, the conclusions are drawn. They are:Economic developments and the construction land intensive use closely related; In the arctangent function model, the coordination of two systems get worse. In the coupling model, the two systems have been strengthened with coupling relations. The two systems are highly coupled on low levels. So there is an urgent need to improve the coupling system, meanwhile, the construction land intensive utilization sub-system calls for a breakthrough. In coupling model, the relationships vary from one area to another in levels of development and coupling relationships.According to the reality of Zhejiang Province and the research conclusions, the article finally make relevant recommendations.
