Statistical Studies Of The Interaction Effect Between Urbanization And Industrial Structure Optimization

Since the reform and opening up, we have made great achievements in the development of urbanization. At the same time, our country keeps on adjusting the industrial structure optimization so as to upgrade the industrial structure. Today, the development of our China’s economic and society is under the critical period of rapid transformation together with the overall advancement. The "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" clearly pointed out that we should show the industrial restructuring as the conversion of the mode of economic development in order to promote the urbanization and constantly improve it’s quality and level. It is now a very important question for discussion that how to coordinate the development between urbanization and industrial structure optimization in order to realize the faster and better development of our economy. Through theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, this topic analyzes the interactive effect between the urbanization and industrial structure optimization to make a conclusion for the theory or the characters of the interactive effect. Firstly, to provide the theoretical basis and support, this topic does the research of the internal mechanism for the relationship of urbanization and industrial structure optimization from a theoretical point of view. This paper argues that the optimization of the industrial structure mainly progress the urbanization in the form of allocation of resources, the promotion of the urbanization process, the transformation of the employment structure and the adjustment of industrial structure. And urbanization upgrades the industrial structure mainly by affecting the employment structure, agglomeration effects of economic as well as the changes of consumer demand or the total consumption.Secondly, through statistical description of methods, this topic is trying to sort out the evolution and the spatial and temporal characteristics of China’s urbanization and industrial structure optimization. And on this basis, we choose the index of measuring the level of urbanization and industrial structure optimization level to build econometric model to confirm the characters of the interactive effects. Cointegration test through the years of1978-2011urbanization and industrial structure optimization variables, we found that the long-term stable equilibrium relationship between urbanization and industrial structure optimization; Further Granger causality test of the two variables, we found that the optimization of the industrial structure of the urbanization of the industrial structure optimization positively promoting effects than the reverse urbanization role in promoting the optimization of the industrial structure, urbanization is increasing significantly with the improvement of the level of urbanization.Again, based on our significant regional differences, we divided the country into three regions of eastern, central and western to explore the characteristics of the three interactions play from the perspective of regional differences. Meanwhile, using the2000and2010China’s31provincial-level panel data, we divided the industrial structure into two dimensions called rationalization of industrial structure and the optimization of industrial structure to build a panel data model to talk about the urbanization and the industrial structure. We find that the rationalization of industrial structure and the optimization of industrial structure play a positive role in promoting urbanization. And this is becoming more and more significant with the eastward shift of our location. At present, the promotion to the urbanization from China’s industrial structure optimization is mainly through the optimization of industrial structure. Conversely, the development of urbanization can promote the rationalization of industrial structure and the optimization of industrial structure as well. But the effect of its role in the different regions shows obvious regional differences.Finally, based on the conclusions drawn from the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, we can make some Policy Implications. When making industrial policy and promote the urbanization process reasonable, the government should play an active role, increase regulation and fully play to the continuous interaction of urbanization and industrial structure optimization to achieve sustainable economic and social development.
