In modern times, the world economy is in the important stage of transition from industrialization to information and from material era to a spirit one. Meanwhile, China’s socialist market economy reform has also entered an important stage. Expandinging socialist market economy energetically and promoting social development are the important goal of building China’s socialist cause. However, economic growth is only one means of development, the comprehensive development of society is not only about economic growth, but also the improvement of standards of living of all people. As a result, our government took the lead in proposing the scientific development concept of "people first" and building a harmonious socialist society. In the mean time, concerning people’s happiness and realizing their happiness has become the ultimate goal for governments at all levels. As the world’s most populous country, China’s rural population accounts for56.1%of its total population. China is also a big agricultural country. As a major agricultural province, Hubei Province has36million rural populations, which is a large population base. Although rural residents’ the education level has been generally improved with rapid economic development and their living conditions have been greatly improved as well, whether the farmers are happy and can be entertained, still needs further study. It is of certain era significance to take farmers’ subjective well-being as the object of study. On February21,2006, a document on promoting the construction of new socialist countryside was formally announced by the Central Committee of CPC and the State Council. It considers promoting rural sustainable development as the focus of China’s economic development strategy. In the same year, The Fifth Plenum of the16th CPC Central Committee pointed out the development strategy of "production, affluent life, civilization, clean and tidy village and democratic management" as the main content of building a new socialist countryside. It is intended to promote comprehensive, sustained and coordinated rural development. Along with the widening urban-rural gap in China, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to carry out the study of subjective well-being of rural residents. On the one hand, the study of subjective well-being of rural residents can further identify China’s new socialist countryside construction targets; quantify research data so as to provide a theoretical basis for the principles and policies introduced by the government. We can say that the new rural construction is the specific reflection of fully implement the scientific concept of development in rural areas. On the other hand, the study of subjective well-being of rural residents will monitor the dynamic trend of the physical environment, social welfare, and spiritual and cultural satisfaction of the rural residents and it is of strategic significance for promoting the construction of a new socialist countryside and building a harmonious socialist society.Starting from the reality of Hubei province, this paper is going to study rural residents’ subjective well-being of Hubei province. As a try of exploring rural residents’s subjective well-being in our country, this paper is based on the history of development in current context and it complies with age requirement. The author had a spot investigation and evidence collection of rural residents’ happiness in various areas in Hubei province. Through the interpretation of the concept of subjective well-being, especially the thorough analysis of rural subjective well-being, the author hopes to get a full knowledge rural residents’real happiness in Hubei province by combining the reality of our country, then after an analysis of the happiness index of farmers in Hubei province, the paper will explore major factors that the influence farmers’ subjective well-being. After that, the author will evaluate the influencing factors according to the results of analysis. Finally, the author will propose suggestions on improving rural residents’ subjective well-being through the evaluation of the results. Hopefully, it will help the government at all levels in the province of Hubei province understanding the "three issues concerning farmers, agriculture, and countryside", and provide reference for policy-making.This study is based on field survey, it is a more systematic research of the related factors that affect rural residents’s subjective well-being of Hubei province, its’ innovations are as follows:1. Starting from four dimension of rural residents’s body function, mental function, social function and material life, enriching the evaluation form of rural residents’s subjective well-being.2. Being based on the sample of subjective well-being of Hubei province rural residents, combing the single factor inspection method with single factor analysis to analyze the main influence factors of rural residents’subjective well-being, so it is rigorously logic in terms of methodology.3. Most past subjective well-being and happiness index study focused on college students, city residents, women and students of primary school and middle school, while few of them choose the rural residents of subjective well-being as the object of study. Under the big social background when the state shall pay attention to the problem of "agriculture, countryside and farmers", the construction of socialist new countryside, this paper will do a research of rural residents’ subjective well-being. It has great significancethe to help the state formulate three rural policies, implement its measures and increase the peasant’s living standard.
