China has the most population and is the largest developing country in the world. Nowadays, China’s economy and society has been in the period of acceleration transformation, when the change is becoming more and more intense. Our county’s agricultural production has made great improvement, which will bring about a great amount of surplus labor force in rural China. It is the inevitable road that rural labor force has to migrate into cities and non-agricultural industry. China is going through the most significant urbanization and population migration in history. How to transform and resettle so many rural labor forces that create a harmonious environment for them live and work in contentment is the key point of solving Three Rural Issues.Based on the former studies, this dissertation makes an analysis on the migrant population’s living status, on the foundation of micro sampling data of the national survey on national migrant population. Overall, the current living state instills little optimism. The conclusions are that younger and married migrant populations become the main, they have low education, they engage in less-well-paid jobs, their living status is not good and lead a tough life. As their working years become longer, their adaptation and willingness to settle down in city is becoming more strengthened gradually. This dissertation applies the classification analysis and Binary Logistic model to analyze the impact factors on urban migrant population’s willingness to settle down. The results of the empirical analysis indicate that region variable has an important effect on urban migrant population’s willingness to settle down. Among the individual and household characteristics variables, marriage status, age, education, party membership and working years have a significant impact. Furthermore, some pull-push variables such as current living status, sense of belonging, New Rural Cooperative Medical System and agriculture income per year have a significant impact. Finally, the social networks and trust also have a significant impact on migrant population’s willingness to settle down. At last, after the analysis and discussion, this dissertation proposes some reasonable policy suggestions on promoting urbanization and civilization according to the current facts.
