| With the evolution of modern economy, service industry rapidly rises among thenational economy, the development of which has become an important embodimentof economic strength of the country. The service industry of China has madeconsiderable development and rapid growth in the three decades of reform andopening, gradually making it an important promoting force of national economicgrowth. However, because the differences exist among different regions on theaspects of economic growth speed, industrial structure and factor endowment, etc, theimbalance in the developing process of the service industry in our country is gettingserious every day. Thus, analysis and examination are conducted from multipleperspectives in this paper, centering on the regional development imbalance andeconomic conduction effect of the service industry in China.Firstly, by analyzing the differences in growth effect and efficiency level, theregional development imbalance of service industry in our country iscomprehensively studied. In the analysis of the service industry regional developmentimbalance, the shift-share model is introduced to measure the growth effect ofregional service industry and its major sub-industry, and the function of region effectis separated using collocated variation model and spatial dependence model tocompare the significant differences of the regional development effect of serviceindustry among different regions. In general, the overall increasing speed of theservice industry in coastal region is higher than other regions. The competitivesub-industry of each region is different from regions, yet the influence degree ofregion effect on the regional service industry development is low. The economy ofindustrial agglomeration of service industry is not entirely realized in each region. Inthe analysis of the service industry regional efficiency imbalance of our country, the variation of efficiency and relative efficiency level of each region are measured andcompared using the DEA method. The differences of the regional service industryefficiency level in our country are obvious, which is in accordance with the regionalservice industry development level. The efficiency level is higher in the developedregion; however, the increasing of the efficiency level is slow because of the shortageof technology improvement ability. The efficiency level is lower in the less-developedregion; however, the pursuit speed is rather high by improving the management andscale of service industry. Meanwhile, the service industry efficiency of each region isremarkably affected by external environment.Secondly, to research into the trend of regional service industry developmentimbalance in China, convergence and divergence of service industry is examinedusing spatial panel data model, and the reason of service industry developmentimbalance is analyzed by making further examination with additional conditions. Theregional service industry development shows divergent trend. The industry increasingspeed of service developed region is higher than the one of undeveloped region, andthe service development level in adjoining areas interact and help each other, showingobvious spillover effect in space. In addition, factors of regional economic level,industrial elements investment and infrastructure construction cause regional serviceindustry development differences in various degrees.Finally, the economic conduction effect of service industry in China is examinedfrom levels of impetus of major sub-industries to overall economy and therelationship between service industry and GDP fluctuation. The key position and theimportant role of service industry are affirmed. However, service industry, especiallymodern service industry, at the stage of primary accumulation and scale enlargement,shows more dependence rather than contribution to overall economic growth, whichmeans the greatest potential of future economic strength increasing of China maycome from optimized development of service industry. |
