| With the accession to the WTO and the increasing import and export trade, China’s international trade status has improved, however, in the context of technical barriers to trade continue to rise, China’s exports often encounter the limitations of technical trade barriers in developed countries and suffered very heavy losses, especially in occupied China’s export trade "half" of the first category of products-mechanical and electrical products. Developed countries represented by the United States, European Union, Japan set numerous technical barriers to trade on the mechanical and electrical products. In the name of protecting intellectual property and the ecological environment, new technical barriers to trade have become more prominent, which make China’s export cost of electromechanical products greatly improved and weak the competitiveness of China’s export of electromechanical products. In this paper, based on the analysis of the status quo of domestic and foreign technical barriers to trade, I make an overview of the technical barriers to trade at first: the concept of technical barriers to trade, characteristics, manifestations, and causes as well as the status quo and development trends. Followed by the combination of foreign trade situation and major technical barriers to trade of mechanical and electrical products, I analysis of the impact of technical barriers on the export of electromechanical products in China and furtherly search for the reasons of encounter technical barriers to trade. Then under the premise of collecting large amounts of data, I use econometric models-gravity model to analysis the impacts on technical barriers to China’s export of electromechanical products. The technical barriers to trade will adversely affect the export of mechanical and electrical products in short-term. Finally, after analysising the reasons for encounter TBT, I find the strategies to break through the technical barriers to trade. The strategies will promote the developmen of China’s export of electromechanical products continued and healthy, and make greater contributions to the sound development of China’s foreign trade and the healthy development of the national economy. |
