With the development of national economy, the demand of car is growing, theconsumer market has a great potential. But at the same time, the requirement ofcustomers on the car’s reliability、security、comfort and advancement is higher andhigher, and the emissions standards are also rising. Under the pressure of highlycompeting and rapidly expanding in the domestic car market, in order to maintain andincrease market share, the FAW-Volkswagen acquired the entire equity interest of theChengdu FAW Automobile Co., Ltd. in2009, and formed FAW-VolkswagenAutomotive Co., Ltd. Chengdu Branch, which is mainly responsible for theproduction of the Jetta sedan. Since the acquisition, Chengdu Branch has optimizedand upgraded both in products and production structure, as well as in resourceallocation,.After attaining succeed in the first step, in the in order to ease the currentshortage sales situation in southwest, improve the enterprise’s ability to resist risksfurther, FAW-Volkswagen decided to start Chengdu Branch Phase III expansionproject in2010, to improve the market share in the Southwest, to achieve thecompany’s production and sales、 market share objectives better, and promotelong-term development strategy.For the sake of ensuring the completion of this project in Chengdu factory ofFAW-Volkswagen successfully, the WBS method is used to develop a series ofproject management programs, which aimed to improve the effectiveness of project management.First, this research described the background、significance、research ideas andthe overall framework. Then reviewed the WBS theory briefly, combing thedefinition and role of the WBS、decomposition principles, as well as decompositionmethods and procedures. After that, using the WBS methods, this researchdecomposed the project’s structure and developed a series of implementation andcontrol measures.Specifically, according to project requirements, based on WBS theory, the entireconstruction project is divided into seven professional groups, they are stampingproject team、welding project team、painting project team、assembly project team、infrastructure engineering group、material procurement group and human resourcegroup. Then, under the guidance of the WBS theory, this research developed someimplementation and control measures, including the cost budget control、schedulecontrol and quality control measures, in order to promote the smoothimplementation of the project.Finally, this study summarized the conclusions and presented researchlimitations and future research prospects.
