Study On The Competitiveness Of Huanghua Port

With the accelerated pace of global economic integration and urbanization in China, the influence and importance of the port on the development of the national economy are increasingly visible, and the port plays a vital role on economy development of a city and the region around it. As an important symbol to measure the level of port development, the study on competitiveness of the port clearly has important significance. With the development plan of Hebei coastal areas has risen to the national strategy, Bohai New Arga has entered into a golden period of development, its booming construction brings the great-leap-forward development of spring for Huanghua Port. This paper makes use of principal components method to establish the port competitiveness evaluation index system, then establishes the model of data envelopment analysis (DEA), and analyzes the competitiveness of12Chinese coastal ports included Huanghua Port based on the historical data of2010, drawing two important conclusions:①the efficiency of Huanghua Port is invalid;②there are three aspects to improve the efficiency of Huanghua Port:first, increasing the Huanghua Port’s attractions to the GDP of hinterland; second, strengthening the construction of infrastructure to improve the operational capability and carrying capacity of the port; third, utilizing land resources for freight yard rationally and optimize the allocation of resources according to the periods of port construction; forth, strengthening the container business. And on this basis, it evaluates the competitiveness of Huanghua Port using its forecast data to draw the curve of its competitiveness level in the planning periods, displaying that the competitiveness of Huanghua Port would achieve to1which expected to the current leve of Tianjin Port and Qingdao Port. After that, it proposes several measures to enhance the Huanghua Port competitiveness:①improving the infrastructure,②developing port-vicinity industry to increase the attractions to the GDP,③Actively expanding container business,④correctly handling relations with neighboring ports,⑤utilizing land resources for freight yard rationally.
