Research On Development Competitiveness Of Container Port

As a new mode of transportation, container transport plays an increasingly important role in the process of commodity circulation. Especially with the aggravation of the port competition. As modern logistics mode,container transportation has become an important standard of port power. Each port is competing the development of container logistics business, preempts resource advantage of route and supply of goods, to form the scale effect, promote the whole logistics chain development.Although container ports locate in different area vary from different economic zone, coastal container port becomemore and more competitive due to the following reasons,such asthe rapid development of rail and road transportation, the geographic advantage of container port,the continuous declination of monopoly advantage,the increasing investment and establishment of container port as well as shipping market downturn. Rizhao Port as the youngest of the 300 million tons port among the national coastal ports, after 30 years development, leading in the industry in the coal, ore, grain, oil and chemical liquid, etc, container transport has become its development short board. Under the background of this market,it is meaningful to take the example of RiZhao port to research and discuss container port development competitiveness.In this paper, based on expounding the container port logistics competitiveness theory, analyzes the development and current situation of container development in Rizhao Port, using the comprehensive index evaluation method and the principal component analysis method to build a competitiveness evaluation index system in container transportation, and analyzes the developmental competition of Rizhao port container by using construction system and data collection.According to the comprehensive index evaluation method,compared with Qingdao port and Lian Yungang port, Rizhao port needs to improve in infrastructure,marketing basis and port and waterway service.Through the principal component analysis method, Rizhao port ranks low in these areas: the total number of container berth and container loading and unloading machinery and container liner trunk line,collecting and distributing system,the average residence time in the port of the ship,the average efficiency of customs clearance,EDI system,security monitoring system, GPS system(qualitative) etc.This paper forecasts container throughput of Rizhao Port, container throughput in 2020 is expected to reach 3.5millon TEU.At last,this paper put forward a number of strategies to enhance Rizhao port’s competitiveness,such as accelerate the construction of hardware, improve the system of container routes, promote the port informatization construction,port services improve,etc.
