As the rapid development of the economy in our country, the industry of retail has become the important supporter of the economy, and some giant retail corporations have grown as the leaders of the market. Those corporations propel the development of relevant industries, accelerate the transference of products, improve people’s living standards and help to decrease the social unemployment rate. In recent years, a huge and deeply variation has performed in this industry of Chongqing. With the entrance of other retail corporations both at home and abroad, the competition among the local corporations and among other newcomers is fiercer, so that the development of these corporations is more and more difficult. As the only listed corporation in Chongqing of large retail chains, how to improve the core competence of these retail corporations, keep the advantage in competition and win more profits in larger market has become the key issue need to be considered by CBEST.In this paper, some large listed retail chain as samples to analyze comparatively the competitiveness of CBEST in the industry of the relative level, understand their advantages and disadvantages, and find out the influence of competitiveness of CBEST which is taken as the representative of the large retail corporations and propose the solutions and suggestions for the further development.The entire paper contains seven chapters, which could be generalised into four parts.The first part is chapter1, which introduced the background and significance of research, the newest research achievement all around the world, and expressed the general research framework of this paper, including the research coverage, contents and methodologies.The second part is chapter2and3, which are the theory construction and large retail chains development present situation analysis section of this paper. This part reviewed the existed literatures and listed the theories of core competence in retail corporations explicitly, including the relevant definitions, features and components. The third chapter generalised the theories of retail chains in China, the developing trend of the enterprise and characteristics, the influence factors of large retail chain enterprise development in macro environment, as well as the large retail chain enterprise development ability of the domestic factors.The third part includes chapter4, chapter5and chapter6, which is the key part in this paper. The fourth chapter built the large retail chain enterprise competitive analysis framework. To set up the large-scale retail chain enterprise competitiveness of hypothesis and principle of evaluation, and then according to the hypothesis and the principle of evaluation from four aspects on the large retail chains assessment system of the12indicators. The four aspects respectively are large retail chains of debt paying ability, growth ability, profitability and operation ability. The final determination with factor analysis to evaluate the sample, and the factor analysis is introduced with the principles and main steps. Chapter5of the fourth chapter is the application of the theoretical framework. In order to better understand the level of competition of CBEST in the industry,30retail chain enterprises listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen share markets were selected as the samples to carry on the factor analysis. Through the SPSS software, the ability of the enterprise factor score is calculated, the factor score and the comprehensive factor score are all ranked. Through the various factors rankings and integrated rank, the competitiveness of the level in CBEST in the industry was analyzed, meanwhile, their advantages and disadvantages are all revealed. From the analysis of the results, the conclusions can be drawn that the CBEST is not very strong in competence, which needs to be raised in future. According to the results of analysis of the fifth chapter, it is proposed in Chapter6that the measures of improvement in the level of competence in the retail corporations from the viewpoint of enterprises and the political suggestions from the aspects of governments.The fourth part is Chapter7, which is the conclusion of this paper. The summary of the research procedures and results were concluded in this part, and the deficiencies were indicated as well.
