With the development of the digital signal processing technology and computer technology, especially the appearance of spread spectrum communication system, the shortwave communication has been run to wideband from narrowband. As a great important composing of a communication system, the character of the channel makes a lot on the performances of the system directly.According to the basic theory of HF transmitting system and channel characteristics, particular attention is paid to the influence on the shortwave communication, which is caused by the multi-path effect and the fading phenomenon. Then a summary of current modeling methods is given based on the literatures about WBHF vended in the international publication, and the WGD (Watterson model with Gaussian random delay) is chosen as a simulated system model according to the request of the item. Been an extension of the Watterson narrowband channel model, The WGD can be realized easily because of its simple modeling idea. In succession, the computer software simulation is made to validate the validity of the WGD, which provides great theory help to the designing and modeling in high speed WBHF communication systems. In the end, some narrowband interference (NBI) models are discussed and the basic theory of three methods on the NBI suppressed technology is introduced.
