In wideband HF(High Frequency) transmission system, the research on the channel characteristics is the base of system design, and the channel modeling is one of the key methods for system performance testing. On the basis of the HF transmitted theory and channel characteristics, some wideband HF models are discussed and compared in this paper, including Vogler model, ITS model, Watterson model with Gaussian random delay, Watterson model with Group delay filter and Parallel Subband model. According to the requirements of the Wideband HF transmission system, ITS model and Watterson model with Gaussian random delay are chosen as the simulated channel models, both of which are amply described and simulated. The ITS model can be validated by comparing simulated scattering picture to field-test scattering picture, and the Watterson model with Gaussian random delay can be validated by testing the delay spread and Doppler frequency spread channel characteristics. In the end, the system bit-error-rate curves are given which are compared with the curves under the AWGN model and Rayleigh model, with the simulation analysis.
