Data Warehouse (DW) and online analytical processing(OLAP) technology are important methods and techniques in advanced high-level data applications. The data warehouse and OLAP technologies help users to manage the massive information and help managers and executives to make appropriate and effective decisions, in order to improve the rationality, scientific, and effectiveness of the strategies.The analysis and the evaluation of the teachers’teaching quality are the important reference for the school executives to formulate relevant policies, to adjust the teaching systems and to introduce the talents. However, most of the current analysis and evaluation methods still stick on the basis of the questionnaires. They cannot obtain the accurate and objective valid information, since they only do the simple data statistical processing to the evaluation results.Aiming at the shortcomings of the current teacher evaluation system such as the poor atomicity, the unscientific data processing and so on, this paper proposed to apply the DW and OLAP technologies to analyze and process the evaluation data, which truly reflect the teachers’teaching quality. The objective of the study was to discover the relation between the evaluation results and the teachers’ages, titles, seniorities, education and gender; the influence of the students and teachers’gender to the evaluation results; the relation among the student’s basic information, their test scores and the evaluation results and so on via OLAP technology. By using the data in the student achievement managing system of the school attendance office and the teaching evaluation database, DW was set up and the subject-oriented multidimensional database schema was built, in which the star model was adopted; OLAP analysis database source was constructed taking the fact table as the center and the student dimension, the teacher dimension, the course dimension and the time dimension as the four dimensions; then OLAP technology was used to realize the multidimensional analysis of the teaching evaluation results, finally the comprehensive application of several multidimensional data processing like rolling-up, drill-down, cut into slice, chop, rotation etc. help to reach the goal of the survey.According to the built process of DW and the online analytical processing course, the study designed and developed a multidimensional processing system for the teaching evaluation based on OLAP technology. The system consisted of two parts, namely the front display part and the back processing part. The system was developed on the basis of the browser/server mode. The development system architecture was built, in which the DW was the center; the subject-oriented DW was constructed through the selection of the relative data in the Educational Management database, the database of student management system and the teacher managing system database; OLAP analysis server was applied to set up a multidimensional data model from DW, and SQL Server2008Data Analysis Services was utilized to process the data according to the users’ needs.The OLAP could be applied to the multidimensional analysis of the teaching evaluation results. It can find out the relationship between different factors and the teaching evaluation, so that the better assist to the relative decisions made by the school executives could be offered.
