Access network technology is an important part of the development of future telecommunication. It becomes the hot spot of recent research. To ensure access network efficiency and stable, configuration and monitoring of access network play a vital role. So, an effective access network management has become the problem which is urgently to be solved by operators. With the development of IPTV, videophone, PC Internet business, etc, network turns to multiple services model. For broadband users, making the use of service terminal can effectively meet the needs of users for the service of communication. Driven by multiple service terminals, the application of family gateway is rapidly developed and became the connection of operators’network and home network. Therefore, the effective management of access network to the family gateway has an important significance。The study of this paper is centered on the management of topology of PON (Passive Optical Network) and unified network management system for PON and home gateway. The main work is displayed as follows:1. According to the characteristics of PON system structure, by study of the current topology discovery algorithm, this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms and put forward a fast topology discovery algorithm, which can reduce communication times between the network management system and the OLT (Optical Line Terminal) equipment. In the large scale network structure, the algorithm can enhance work efficiency. The topology discovery result can be refined to OBD (Optical Branching Device) port, which can accurately positioning network state and handling network fault timely. Case design, program design, coding and function test of fast topology discovery algorithm are completed.2. During the time of participating in the design of overall scheme of10G-EPON network management system, the improved topology discovery algorithm is applied to10G EPON topology automatic discovery module. Beyond that, software function architecture of10G EPON network management system topology management module, module partition and the overall scheme of10G EPON topology automatic discovery module design are completed. Case design, program design, coding and function test of10G EPON topology automatic discovery module are completed.3. By detailed analysis of the necessity of unified management of PON system and home gateway, this paper also finish the overall scheme of access network unified NMS (network management system). Service module design is completed, including equipment configuration, upgrade, and dynamic distribution of service, etc.
