PIC is short for Photonic Integrated Circuit. With advantages of high rate, small size, low power consumption, PIC integrates several optical devices including lasers, modulators, detectors, amplifiers, attenuators, multiplexers/demultiplexers and others.10*10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip supports100G bandwidth optical transmission, integrated10channels, with single-channel rate up to10Gb/s. The transmitter is suitable for high speed applications environment, such as the backbone network high-speed transmission and data center interconnect. Until now, communication network has placed large amounts of10G optical channels and WDM systems.10*10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip can greatly improve the transmission efficiency, streamline network structure, while achieving green energy-saving communications.Nowadays,Scientists are actively carrying out research the optical transceivers technology based on the PIC all over the world, while China is still in its infancy. Relying on the National863"photonic integrated project", independent research and development job of the10x10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip is under way.PIC-based research areas are mainly concentrated in the materials, devices, structural design, integration technology, manufacturing process, not too much involved in the evaluation technology direction. As for the10*10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip, it has characteristics of multi internal channel, high integration, high rate of single-channel, complex internal photoelectric signal environment, only a single wavelength division multiplexing optical port for external output. Therefore, we need to make effective evaluation and it’s the premise system applications.In this thesis, Positioning in evaluation technology and experiment system of10x10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip, innovative research includes the following areas:1. Internal structure of the10*10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip;2. Innovatively proposed evaluation parameters of the10x10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip, carried out the design of evaluation environment and evaluation methods to accomplish the evaluation system;3. Design of the experiment system, the high-speed services generating and testing, the high-speed optoelectronic interface matching, the evaluation board structure, circuit design to accomplish the experimental system;4. Built experiment system, and analyzed experimental results to verify the feasibility of evaluation technology the PIC chip10x10Gb/s optical transmitter based on PIC chip.
