| Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is the integration of plant manufacturing idea and modern information technologies, which occupies the third layer in the information architecture of modern manufacturing enterprises, with the ERP on top of it and the bottom control layer down. Being a connecting link between the upper layer and the lower one, MES collects production data and information from the bottom layer and transfers them to the ERP after processing, or delivers the processed production order from ERP to the automatic layer for execution.Nowadays, the large-scale manufacturing enterprises have accumulated much experience during the greater integration of industrialization and informatization. However, differences are common in terms of their particular business and the industrial process between enterprises, so it is the most crucial for the enterprise to coordinate the ERP and MES data flow when promoting their informatization project; at the same time, the regulation of business processes and the fundamental data acquisition design are two issues of critical importance.The principles, functionalities and application of MES were introduced in detail and the informatization for domestic iron and steel enterprises were studied in this thesis. This thesis focused on the design and implementation of data acquisition in MES project for iron and steel enterprises. Based on one of the iron and steel enterprise, various kinds of data acquisition technologies were introduced, after a comparison of them and analysis of the practical situation of basic automation (L1) and process automation (L2) in the enterprise, the paper also examined their present situation of informatization and the actual production process from different perspectives, the thesis also referenced the MES (L3) selection and excellent informatization experience from domestic iron and steel enterprises, then the paper here, designed and successfully implemented L1\L2data acquisition with TCP/IP technology in a case study of cold rolling mill (CRM) and checking work for storage with PDA under special circumstances. As one of the most crucial part of informatization for iron and steel enterprise, the actual application proved that the efficiency of the production and management in the enterprise had been improved. |
