Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a kind of network data in the form of wirelesstransmission, in the short distance communication network. Sensor network nodes aremostly using the net type distribution, openness is stronger, During transmission, thenode data information is likely to be theft, tampering and damage at any time. So toensure the safety of the data in the network transmission in sensor network research isespecially important. At present, although there have been many mature encryptionalgorithm, but because of the particularity of the wireless sensor nodes, manyencryption algorithm can’t well adapt to the characteristics of the sensors in thenetwork data transmission and processing. The encryption algorithm can’t obtain thevery good application. Looking for a suitable encryption algorithm, became the keydata in network communication security.This paper focuses on research based on the encryption algorithm in a sensornetwork sensor node. Since new encryption standard AES determined, Rijndaelencryption algorithm has been widely used in information processing and datasecurity, so the research of the Rijndael encryption algorithm for wireless sensornetwork data security has the very vital significance. The paper focuses on theoptimization of the Rijndael encryption algorithm and FPGA implementationconducted in-depth research.In this paper, the theory of AES encryption algorithm, implementation andapplication levels were studied. The paper briefly introduces the development ofwireless sensor networks and data encryption standard, and carried on the Rijndaelencryption algorithm in-depth analysis. After the optimization of Rijndael encryptionalgorithm and the implementation of the detailed analysis and research, Rijndaelencryption system based on FPGA was designed and used QuartusII9.0developmenttools for Rijndael algorithm simulation and performance analysis, design, testing, andto the lateral comparison, and other design. Simulation results show that the design ofRijndael encryption algorithm system has good features and excellent performance.System occupies2157LE unit, data throughput rate reached1.805Gbps, fully able tomeet the requirements of wireless sensor network real-time encryption, reached theexpected targets of high speed and low power consumption required.
