The21st century is an information era which takes network and computer as its core.Digitization, networking, information technology and economic globalization are thecharacteristics of the times of the21st century. Internet of things has been proposed formore than10years and is causing more and more attention around the world. TheInternet of things is called the third wave of the information industry, following the rapiddevelopment of computer and network technique. Nowadays, the Internet of things is stillin the stage of development, and various countries are in a race against time for therelated research on Internet of things technology, which leads to the necessities oflearning the Internet of things communication protocol. This paper chooses the Ad Hoc routing protocol AODV, DSR and OLSR protocolfor further analysis and comparison. Network performance analysis finds that the AODVprotocol has the best network communication quality; whereas the DSR protocol has theminimal network energy consumption and OLSR protocol has the minimum networkdelay. This provides the foundation for later related improvement. In this paper, animproved AODV protocol called Reverse Energy AODV (REAODV) is presented underthe circumstance when nodes are moving with high-speed and the network topologychanges rapidly. The new protocol adds new information in the traditional AODV routingrequest packet (RREQ) and the routing reply packet (RREP) and improves the operationof the two kinds of packet, which makes the routing replay packets arrive at the sourcenode more frequently. Therefore, the new protocol can establish a route quickly andmaintain longer time in the rapidly changing network topology. In the meantime, whenconsidering individual nodes’ premature death because of the excessive energyconsumption, we add energy restriction policy in the new protocol which can choose highresidual energy node as a priority intermediate node and use this method we improve thenetwork performance. The simulation results show that the new protocol (REAODV) achieves better performance in network delay and communication quality than traditionalAODV protocol whereas the energy consumption of the new protocol (REAODV) is onlyslightly less than the traditional AODV protocol.
