The MANET is a special kind of wireless network. Each node’s position in thisnetwork is equal. The MANET can be quickly and flexibly set up. Because of thesecharacteristics, the MANET has been widely used in many special areas, such aspost-disaster reconstruction, military battlefield. But the MANET also has someshortcoming, such as the node in MANET has low energy, and limited storage capacity. These shortcomings limit the further development of MANET.In order to overcome these shortcomings, further enhance the scope of applicationof MANET. In the research work of the fourth generation mobile communication system, the MANET is no longer see as an independent autonomous network, but as an accessnetwork connected to the Interner, People often said this network is wireless multi-hopaccess network. The wireless multi-hop access networks through multi-hop in it nodecapacity expansion to communication the range of a mobile communication system, toblance Community business, to improve the data rate of the cell edge. This thesis first analysis the MANET’s characteristics, background, developmentstatus, and other informations. Then analyzed and compared the current routing protocolin MANET in detail. On this base, a new routing protocol AODV-T is beenproposed,Which is the AODV routing protocol Optimization. Its parameter is the timedelay. It can connect the nodes which in MANET and the gateway which in Interner.Andit also can get two ways to transmission the infoemation after a search. One way is theleast time delay way,and the other one is the second least time delay way.IT can betransmission these information on the same time.At last,we compare the AODV and theAODV-T on the plateforn of NS2.A reasonable explanation has concluded on thesimulation. In the results, we can see the AODV-T in those aspects, such as:the ratio of Packetdelivery, end-to-end delay, the normalized load control, the frequency of routing, thespending of touting. The AODV-T have a good performances. but in more nodes, nosymmetry, low speed, the aodv-t look like on different with AODV. But we should believed that:with the more reach on the wireless multi-hop access network, the MANETwill give us a more comfort life.
