Vehicle access control system as the core of parking lot management system, need morenormalization and scientification, many disadvantages exist in both the previous artificialmanagement and semi-automatization management. Intelligent system can solve theseproblems, how to park conveniently, how to improve vehicle safety, and how to reduceoperational costs and so on. With the development of computer technology and digital imageprocessing technology, the vehicle automatic license plate recognition technology has becomeone of core technologies to realize modernization of intelligent traffic management, becauseof the license plate is the only identity to be able to distinguish, Integrating license platerecognition technology into vehicle access control system is becoming more important. Themain content includes:First, analyze present situation and development trend of parking lot management systemand license plate recognition system to find some problems at present stage. Contrapose theseproblems, the general structure of the system is designed. Integrate LED display, the cameraand the brake into an organic whole, finish the design of intelligent brake.Second, license plate recognition system is designed based on MATLAB. At first useimage acquisition card capture image from the streaming video, and convert it into digitalimage, then recognize the license number through the PC software. Recognition process isdivided into four steps: image preprocessing, LP orientation, LP character segmentation andLP character recognition. Every step is introduced in detail.Third, hardware and software design, the hardware system is divided into master controlmodule and display control module. Data transmission between main control module and PCis based on the485bus, the connection between display module and GPRS network via the232bus, PC and the monitor center send message to the display screen by wirelesscommunication.Last of all, analyze testing results, software of the PC management system is written, acircuit control board is built. LED display screen realizes not only wireless transmission, butalso horizontal and longitudinal automatic conversion mode. Test platform with the GUItoolbox is built, the recognition rate achieves about88%is ideal.Based on computer control platform, the research has a comprehensive utilization ofautomatic control and detection technology, digital image processing technology, wirelesscommunication technology. The low level of intelligentization and integration in traditional system will be solved effectively, the safety and efficiency of management of vehicles will beimproved.
