| Fan Changjiang is one of the founders in the field of Journalism in China. In his career, especially the twice travel to the Northwest in1935and1936. After these two years, he also published "China’s northwest corner" and "Sai Shang Xing" which caused a wide range of response in that time, and which were regarded as a classic by the Posterity."National Consciousness" is the formation of national attitude,emotional end cognitive in the historical process.The paper selects the follows as the study objects:Peking Morning News (1934-1935), Da Gong Newspaper(in Tianjin) and Yi Shi Newspaper(in Tian Jin), which published college news written by Fan Changjiang, And the reports which were pressed in Da Gong Newspaper(both Tianjin and Shanghai version) during May in1935and September in1938, and the article in News Reporter which was founded by Fan early in the Anti-Japanese War, and those articles which were published in "China’s northwest corner"and "Saishang Xing ". From these news works, the paper find out the origin of Fan’s national consciousness.On the one hand, in a certain country, the national consciousness is a universal social consciousness, which is closely related to the ethnic consciousness. One the other hand, social order should be through the power of the state to exist and maintain. So, from the nation, ethnic and social point of view, this paper will analyse the reports during Fan’s northwest trip in1930s.In order to discuss the relationship between Northwest Trip and National Consciousness, this paper is divided into four chapters to explain.Chapter1describes the origin of Fan Changjiang’s national consciousness; how Fan Changjiang’s national consciousness theoretical basis and practical soil come out. It summarizes Fan Changjiang’s national consciousness as Three Principles of the People which affects the national consciousness, the awareness of civil rights and awareness of people’s livelihood. Besides, the article has cited Fan’s national consciousness embodied in news events and works.Chapter2depicts and analyses the geospatial characteristics and social realistic picture in northwest of China in1930s, and gives a brief overview and comparison of the route and purpose of Fan’s trips to northwest. On this basis, this paper illustrates the influence of the trip on Fan, as well as the changes of Fan Changjiang’s national consciousness.Chapter3analyses the Northwest Nationalities report under the guidance of Fan Changjiang’s national consciousness. The writer has found the fierce reaction of inter-ethnic contradictions and conflicts in Fan’s reports, and cites the useful countermeasures which were posed by Fan Changjiang to solve ethnic conflicts. Finally, it concludes national philosophy and national news complex contained in the reports of the Northwest Nationalities.Chapter4analyses Fan’s report driven by the concept of national interest first. Form the description of realistic picture in Northwest China, I found his efforts and thinking of the adjustment and interests of different social classes. This includes the thinkings of the value of the individual, who were inspired and educated and oppressed for a long time. Fan Changjiang news works have embodied the thoughts of the people, which changed into "from the masses, to the masses" after Fan contacted with Chinese Communist Party’s policies and proposals, and which is another important effect of Fan Changjiang ideology of his northwest trip in the1930s.Because of the change of times, the temptation of material and ideological diversification, news literacy and professional ethics of journalists become an important issue in the press. Fan Changjiang is a example for us to follow, because we are going to devote ourselves to the Chinese journalism. His national awareness and sense of responsibility of journalism has become a valuable asset to the press and news reporters. Today, journalists have to learn the spirit of Fan, who pursuit the truth and report the facts. |
