In China, the pipeline transportation is the lifeline of the national economy. In pipeline transportation systems, cathodic protection potential data information provides important basis for the management and maintenance of the energy pipeline, regular and accurate collection of these data have important significance to safeguard the security and reliability of the energy pipeline transportation. Now, the basic way to complete the data collection is by artificial, it’s extremely arduous in remoteness, especially in harsh environments. Therefore, the establishment of a strong, intelligent monitoring system for cathodic protection data is the latest direction of pipeline monitoring research.The paper based on the rapid development of wireless sensor networks, research and develop a acquisition system for cathodic protection data based on wireless network protocols. The wireless communication protocol which based on the SimpliciTI network protocol, is designed suitable for pipeline transportation linear, long-range applications such as environmental characteristics of network topology; designed a hopping algorithm according to the characteristics of the application environment; on the basis of actual needs of the acquisition system developed the interface functions of the entire agreement.Firstly, the paper describes the development status of the automatic monitoring system of pipeline transportation environment, describes the theoretical basis and key technologies related to wireless sensor networks applied to the monitoring system.Secondly, the paper gives the detailed analysis of the specific needs of wireless network protocols used in pipeline transportation environment monitoring system. Based on the the protocol layering design ideas, the paper gives the details of the physical layer, the RF layer, the network layer and the application layer,which includes the functions of packet split to send, logging return. This article details a separate frequency hopping algorithm applied to the protocol.Finally, the paper gives the specialized field test and analysis for the design of wireless network protocols, and do overall summary of the research topics, and suggest improvements for future research work.
