Interconnected system is developing smaller, faster and higher density with the development of science and technology, especially communication technology. At the moment, the product designed with traditional method usually encounters many problems and even can not work normally due to signal integrity not logic error. Perfect signal integrity is that interconnected system can deliver signal to receiver with wanted magnitude and phase.It seems simple to keep signal integrity. However, it is really hard to attain, especially for high speed and high density devices. Therefore, new analysis and transmission method should be adopted to transmit high speed data. Due to well anti-interference, differential transmission technology is applied when the transmission speed is upper1Gb/s. At present, differential transmission technology is not wide used as it is hard to control the differential pairs’performance. But the tendency is obvious. As connectors are widely used in all systems, it is crucial for the system’s whole features.This paper focuses on simulating and testing the high speed micro electrical connector to analyze its signal integrity and influence factors. It is simulated in HFSS to analyze its parameters, for example impedance, and cross talk etc. It can be got by simulation analysis that keeping differential pairs internal well coupling and a suitable space between pairs can improve connectors’ performance. Then, optimize the connector in HFSS by selecting materials with a lower permittivity or decreasing its pins. Materials with a different permittivity have an obvious influence on its performance among these factors.At last, test the connector with VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) because of its well SNR (signal to noise rate) while at a broad bandwidth. VNA can test S parameter and port impedance etc. The test system, containing test fixture, is calibrated with SOLT and TRL method. Then, analyze the results of simulation and measurement combining with the specification. It is a systematic method to analysis high speed electrical connector with the combination method of physical prototype based electromagnetic simulation and test. The simulation and test results have good consistency. Moreover, all can meet the requirements of specification.
