At present, almost all LAN networks are based on Ethernet. Ethernet has the characteristic which is highly flexible, relatively simple and easy to implement. With the development of Ethernet technology and the diversity of business needs, access network should provide the ability of precise identification and service identification for users to make sure the users’data stream could be sent and switched correctly and provide better service for users.Double VLAN Tags technology which is also known as the QinQ, is the expansion of the802.1Q protocol. It is to add a VLAN tag to802.1Q VLAN, which could solve the problem of the increasing scarcity of the of the publich VLAN ID resources. It can also adapt the requirements of the Ethernet to provide an effective solution of precise identification of users and service identification. And now, QinQ is widely used by the telecom operators especially in the service identification.This paper introduces the Double VLAN Tags technology and it’s forwarding process on the Layer2of the Ethernet switch. This paper also disusses the principle and realization of the port-based QinQ and protocol-based’s flexible QinQ technology. In the protocol-based’s flexible QinQ, this paper firstly discusses the Ethernet frames’ encapsulation format, and how the Ethernet switch to judge them. Secondly designs a protocol template on the switch chip, which could distinguish the ordinary Internet services and IPTV services. These two services are the mainstream of the broadband services. The switch will add two different outer tags based their protocols. So the operator could distinguish the users and provide them different service with different QoS. In the last, this paper designs two experimental networking for port-based QinQ and protocol-based’s flexible QinQ. Construct a variety of messages by using Ixia and transmit these messages to thses two experimental networking. Capture the messages of the key nodes to testing the experimental networking’s function.
