Broadband IP MAN is the IP backbone network in urban area built by telecommunications operator, which is city's important information infrastructure. In recent years, with the rapid growth of demand for communication services, the original broadband IP MAN communication services are increasingly unable to meet the growing demands of the dynamic development of communication services. The two obvious network deficiencies are the irrational network structure and the poor ability to support new business.In the current situation, it is necessary to optimize the IP MAN according to certain principles and methods to improve the differentiated multi-service capabilities to stay ahead of the fierce completion.This paper first analyses the network architecture and business development of Taizhou Telecom's broadband IP MAN and then studies the design framework and key technologies of the optimization of MAN. Finally it proposes the approaches to the optimization of the overall structure of telecom broadband IP MAN and multi-services implementation based on VLAN technology and evaluates the effectiveness of the optimization, which proves that the optimization of this transformation can achieve the desired outcomes.The contributions and innovative points of this paper are as follows:1 This paper has conducted in-depth research and offered a design of the optimization of MAN. The adoption of the up-to-date group network structure ensures the smooth transition from the original switching type to the route type and offers a design model of the optimization of MAN, which can be transplanted and copied.2 To deal with the problems concerning the flow replication and QoS deployment, this paper presents a solution to plan PVID independently for the switch under a flexible QinQ environment and use VPLS technology to end the QinQ VLAN VPN business, which offers a reference for solving similar problems in the future.
