As networking technologies is becoming more and more popular in recent years, Internet has generated deeply impact on daily life of every people. For example, VOIP technology is becoming in common used with Internet. It makes fully use of global network environment to make normal signal convert into IP packets. There are many advantages such as access from anywhere with networking, lower cost and simple operation lead to it is widely accepted by people.However, with development of computer technologies, Internet is becoming larger and larger. There are more and more devices connecting to the network. Limited IPv4addresses couldn’t satisfy the need of device access. On Feb.3rd,2011, IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) officially announced that IPv4addresses is exhausted, global has come into IPv6era. IPv6technology could efficiently solve shortage of IPv4addresses. But deployment of IPv6couldn’t be finished in one step. Before Transition to IPv6, IPv4and IPv6will coexist in a long period. This thesis describes VOIP technology and IPv4/v6transition technology and analyzes complexity and new problems of VOIP clients in the IPv4-IPv6coexisting network environment. Combining with open source software, communication processes are designed in the different dual-stack network. At last, expansion of SIP/SDP protocol is implemented in the premise like this.
