The rapid development of information technology has led to the birth of the new media and the emergence of the new media form, for example, the internet, blog, microblog, digital TV and so on has brought the public into the "DIY" age. The so-called new media is the media and its various application forms that is compared with the traditional media. New media is the communication form and media form in the way of using of the digital technology, network technology and mobile technology. It provides the public for information and entertainment through the the internet, wireless network, cable network and the terminals such as computers, mobile phones, digital television, and so on. The charcateristic of new media is interactivity and immediacy, mass and sharing, personality and socialization etc. As an important work that expands the social awareness of archives and promotes the development of archives, archives publicity is faced with new opportunities and challenges under the impacting of the new media.It summarizes and reviews the research status of our country’s archives publicity in this paper. It also discusses the background, significance, methods and the main body of the paper.1. The overview of the new media——It introduces the concept, characteristics and main types of the new media. Then it analyzes the important significance of new media for archives publicity, points out that new media riches the archives propaganda way, improves the archives effect of publicity and enlarge the range of the archives publicity.2. The archives publicity and the development of the archives progaganda way under the background of new media——This part of the paper discusses three problems that the overview of the archives publicity, the main way of the archives publicity under the background of the traditional media and the expansion of the archives propaganada way in the age of the new media. It focuses on the application and practice of the new media,such as the archives website,archives blog, microblog, mobile media and digital TV and so on in the archives publicity.3. The problems of the archives publicity in the age of the new media——It analyses the problems existing in the archives publicity. They are the problems that the use of the new media is in the low level, the public media literacy is very low, the management tasks of the archives publicity increase and the file clerk’s knowledge in the new media is deficient, ect.4. The measures to strengthen the archives publicity in the age of the new media——This part puts forward some corresponding measures and solutions to the problems existing in the archives publicity5.
