Decision support systems are systems used to auxiliary and support people to make decisions with computers using data, related knowledge and models built. The design and implement of the systems is complicated which relate to computer technology, systems theory, software engineering, intelligent algorithm and so on. For this reason, a scientific method is need to be put forward to manage and guide the design of the system. UML (Unified Modeling Langluage) is a modeling language, which is widely used in system analysis and modeling. Any systems having a dynamic behavior or static behavior can be modeled using UML. And the UML can be used in the whole stages of the system development process. With an appropriate softsare development methods, UML can provede the process of software development with management and guide.The purpose of this pater is to design and implement a decision support system for steel-making process with the models for steel-making process built already. UML and Rational Unified Process (RUP) is used as a tool. The system is modeled from needs analysis,problem domain analysis, UML static modeling, UML dynamic modeling and physical modeling aspects. And at last program the system with an appropriate framework.UML modeling of the system can effectively guide and manage the development of systems.
