With the continuous development of the productive forces, industrial equipment becomes more and more complex. The cost of its operation and maintenance increases but the efficiency is still low. Enterprises urgently need new and universal methods of quipment operation and maintenance to improve competitiveness. AR (Augmented Reality) is a technology which combines real-world environment and computer-generated virtual objects in a real time. With the continuous development of software and hardware, the smart phone integrated with GPS, video cameras laid the foundation for the development of AR program. The combination of AR technology and smart phones provides the perfect solution to solve the situation in operation and maintenance of industrial equipment.This article describes an AR system based on maker recognition technology. The system is mainly used in industrial areas, to help the workers to complete equipment maintenance and equipment operation. The system mainly consists android phone client, AR server, business servers and PC applications. This paper briefly describes the overall architecture of the AR system, focusing on the needs analysis, design and implementation of ARAuthoring module of the android phone client. The ARAuthoring module is consist of POI information management module, loading and save POI module and conversion of POI location from2D to3D module. POI information management module provides the operations to create add or delete the POI information. Loading and save POI module loads the scene from JSON file and saves the modified one to the JSON file. Conversion of POI location from2D to3D module provides the function to convert from the screen position which user clicks to world coordinates.
