With the advancement of radar technology and electronics manufacturing technology, the FMCWranging radar technology has been widely applied in industry and military, therefore the FMCW radartechnology is becoming more and more important to further research.Firstly, based on the analysis on the principle of FMCW ranging radar, this thesis sets up fourkinds of models according to the different states of target, and determines the working parameters ofthe FMCW ranging system according to the needs of the practical application. Then this thesisanalyses the factors which may influence the working performance of ranging system and putsforward the solutions. Secondly, this thesis studies the radar signal processing algorithms and designsthe hardware of FMCW ranging radar whose core processor is DSP and FPGA. After testing thehardware platform and simulating the signal processing algorithms, this thesis implements aranging radar machine hardware platform which can be used in field application. In consideration ofthe negative influence of nonlinear of VCO to the radar system, this thesis uses digital VCO nonlinearcorrection method, thus greatly enhancing the measure precision of the radar systems. Considering theinformation loss between the spectrum of the FFT algorithm, this thesis compares the spectrumzooming algorithms with maximum spectral estimation algorithms and FFT-DFT algorithm to refinethe spectrum resolution, and further improves the ranging accuracy of the FMCW ranging system. According to the characteristics of the radar signal, the ranging radar system adds false alarmprocessing for anti-interference, couple with PC monitoring software developed by LabVIEW. Thismakes the radar system more stable, more functional. Finally, as the result of experiments, FMCWranging radar achieves the designed goal, and it can meet the requirements of field measurement.
