Through the research and analysis on FMCW radar ranging theory, the FMCWRadar in Short-Range Ranging System is realized by means of MAX11043whichfeatures an on-chip digital signal processing function, radar transceiver IVS-167andFPGA.Firstly, the basic structure and working principle of FMCW radar ranging system isintroduced, carried out a detailed analysis of the theory on triangular wave modulationsignal ranging and the relevant distance parameters which combined with the actualsituation is given. Secondly, the triangular wave generating circuit and differencefrequency signal preprocessing circuit are respectively designed which based on the radartransceiver IVS-167’s working principle and electrical parameters, and use MAX11043completed the difference frequency signal A/D sampling, digital filtering and otherfunctions. Thirdly, the ranging system has finished the digital signal processing ofdifference frequency signal by FPGA, and the system test results have been expressed inthe form of chart when the measured target in the scope of20m to40m, ranging accuracyfrom0.38%to2.37%, and has reached the expected goal. Finally, the paper analyzes thefactors that influence the FMCW radar ranging accuracy, and the combination of FFTalgorithm and Chirp-Z algorithm can improve the ranging precision of FMCW radarranging system effectively is proposed and verified.
