With the deepening of coal mine reform, the government is improving mining rate andproduction of coal resources can be imminent. However, control of belt conveyors, large mostis open-loop control, just by simple fixed program control to start, run and stop, no controlprocess to optimize, it make belt conveyor control of less than a high performance andaccuracy requirements. So to optimize control performance, it is necessary to improve thecontrol accuracy. Unstable due to the amount of coal, and the speed is substantially fixed atthe same time, it appears coal amount is very small and even belt no-load high-speedoperation, leading to a lot of waste of energy, and this increases the cost of production of theuse. So the optimal control scheme is followed by changes with changes in the amount of coal,so that the belt speed, dynamic control and save energy.The lecture analyzes the situation and development trend of the belt conveyor drive andcontrol technology, and proposed to optimize the control scheme. The key issues of beltconveyor control: first, we have to analyze the affect of the balance of power factor anddetermine the power balance control scheme, which would make more accurate and secure.Second, to achieve the automatic energy-saving control, the belt speed varies with the changesin the amount of coal. In the condition of energy conservation, we ensure that the control ismore accurate, more stable.The paper design the automatic control system for belt conveyor, and it is established aPLC control program which includes the function of soft start, automatic energy-saving speedand power balance,which using fuzzy automatic control theory to increase control superiority.As the development of large capacity, high-power, long-distance belt conveyor, it has laid agood foundation. Through on-site testing, the design of the automatic control system what has benefit of excellent precision control, significant energy saving, simple operation, and highsafety performance. So it meets the requirements of the control engineering.
