With the development of urbanization, more and more communication base stations have been built and some of these stations are in remote places. How to monitor the battery of base stations to ensure their normal operation and reduce the system maintenance costs becomes more and more important. An online battery group monitoring system for back-up power of communication base station is designed and realized. The system uses TI’s Cortex-M3ARM chip LM3S1911as the control chip and is consists of the host unit and slave unit. Using the Modbus host-slave structure, which is convenient to expand, the host unit gets the voltage data from slave unit and current data by itself, calculating the capacity of the battery group; The Real-Time Operation System uC/OS is used as the software platform and the message dispatch mechanism is used to manage the message passing of the tasks and real-time data of single voltage, group voltage, current and temperature can be collected, stored and processed. An AH counting method for capacity estimation based on BP neural network is designed for the series connection of base station battery group. The test result shows that the system is accurate and of high efficiency and can fulfill practical application.
