Computer technology in our country is developing very fast and widely. Many of the schools are in the use of computers now, but the school papers are usually made by the teachers artificially. With the increasing of the examination requirements, the workload of teachers will be more and more. So, the traditional methods for making papers can no longer meet the needs of the examination in modern society. With the rapid development of modern computer technology, computers are used widely in all walks of life. Moreover, we have made great progress in the development of information technology in school teaching and management. And we need the computers to help us do some related works for making papers, which can reduce the burden of the teachers, improve the work efficiency to some extent, and also can improve the quality of examination. In order to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional methods for making papers, we should develop an examination database and examination management system. Reducing the workload of the teachers and cooperating with teaching activities effectively, the system can not only promote the students’ learning, enrich the students’knowledge, but also can improve the teaching quality. So, it is of great significance. At the same time we should realize that it is not so easy to make test papers using computer technology. First, for a long history people use the traditional methods. If we use the computer to work out test papers automatically, we must consider that in this process there will be a lot of problems to solve. Second, we should consider how to design the test paper in this system. This system tries to reduce the workload of the teachers, improve the working efficiency and better the flow of students’ examinations. Compared with the traditional examination method, it can improve the efficiency of the school work saving manpower, financial capacity and time. The implementation of this system mainly divides into five big modules:system login module; setting module of department, major and subject; test papers inputting module; test paper generating module; database maintenance module. The system login module mainly tries to manage the login information of the user, including the user name and password. Setting module of department, major and subject is mainly about the setting of department, major and subject. So that, all departments, majors and subjects can input the examination database. The test paper inputting module is to input test questions including multiple choice, filling in the blanks, judging questions, short answer questions, glossaries and general questions. It also includes the keys to questions and problems on information management. Test paper generating module manages the degree of difficulty and score in the process of making test papers. Database maintenance module manages the examination questions, mainly including the operations of examination questions querying, updating and deleting.Electronic test system design is developed by Visual Basic6technology, using SQLSERVER2000as background database, and using ADO technology to access the SQL SERVER2000database.
