Some drawbacks exist in the traditional measuring apparatus, like unwieldiness, single function, complex operation, etc. To overcome them, Virtual Instrument (VI) technology is applied. Moreover, the integrated virtual measuring instrument can be developed by the embedded computer technology, which not only makes the instrument owns the advantages of VI-like simplexes in hardware terms and flexibility in software terms, but also let the instrument can be handled conveniently.This paper focuses on the research and development of the embedded integrated virtual measuring instrument, which contains the functions of virtual oscilloscope, virtual logic analyzer and virtual waveform generator.First, for each function, the paper analyzes the performance requirement of the instrument. Based on the platform of ARM11and the timing control by CPLD, the paper has proposed the overall design plan and realized the software running in Linux.Then, the paper illustrates the specific design method from the aspects of hardware and software. Also, after the detailed hardware circuit design is proposed, the paper completes the production of PCB. The software design mainly includes the timing control design by CPLD, the driver design of GPIO in Linux and the QT interface of oscilloscope design. Begin with the demand analysis, this paper explains the software design plans in order and shows the production in the end.Finally, the real hardware test and software debugging of oscilloscope are carried out and the relating results are showed.
