Digital Beam Forming (DBF) technology is a means to achieve beamforming with digital methods. It can dramatically enhance antenna performances in radar, sonar and communication systems. With the rapid development of modern digital signal processing theory and computer technology, Digital beamforming technology has been widely researched in modern radar. This paper researches the Digital Beam Forming processor based on DSP and FPGA. The main work has been included in the following:(1) With comparing several popular DSP+FPGA configuration, four TS201and a XC4VSX35are integrated on a standard PCB. In order to achieve the high-speed performance, Some high-speed circuit design rules are successfully applied to PCB design.(2)Some research about adaptive Digital Beam Forming algorithm is made on the platform of Digital Beam Forming processor. The research and simulation based on the Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) adaptive algorithm and the Forward Spatial Amplitude and Phase Estimation (F_SAPES) adaptive algorithm have carried out on this hardware platform. A modified Forward Spatial Amplitude and Phase Estimation adaptive algorithm was presented and analyzed.
