The experimental teaching is a vital component of the modern education system, playing a positive and important role in cultivating students’ innovation consciousness and improving the practical ability. In recent years, with the expansion of the enrollment scale of higher education and more attention paid to the talent training in the process of experiment teaching stage by stage, traditional experiment teaching model has been unable to meet the demand of talent cultivation. Along with the rapid development of computer network technology and remote control technology, remote laboratory based on Internet is becoming an effective way to solve this problem. Through remote access to the laboratory resource, students can break through constraints of time and space and classroom teaching time. They can do offsite experiment based on network browser remotely. At the same time the remote laboratory also can effectively reduce the idle time, improve the resource utilization of laboratory equipment.The research group constructs a remote network laboratory system based on the B/S mode, using network technology and remote control technology, taking teaching demand of the computer network curriculum in higher education as design basis. In the early stage, we have completed the topological structure of hardware, and realized the basic function of the remote access devices. On this basis, we research and develop four function modules in this paper:reservation management subsystem, timing and charging experimental subsystem, experimental flow statistic subsystem and network equipment management subsystem. Reservation management subsystem realizes the networking and intelligence of the reservation. The users make reservation of experiment time, experiment contents and experimental cabinets through the system; In the timing and charging experiment subsystem, it focuses on the design of the page dynamic timing module, experimental information storage, collocation information and user experiment management module, and provides the intelligent reminder function. Timing and charging experiment subsystem is used in combination of reservation management system and it can effectively manage students’ experimental process; Experimental flow statistics subsystem records the information of user access of laboratory resources effectively. Through the calculation and analysis of the data, it will generate the corresponding report forms to reflect the user access rules, thus providing the reference for experimental teaching arrangement; Network equipment management subsystem realizes the functions of remote login of equipments, connectivity detection, equipment initialization, display of the occupation of the device port, uploading the configuration file with one button. It makes more convenient for teachers’ management of laboratory network equipment and students’ remote network experiments. The design and implementation details of above contents will be given detailed description in the third to the sixth chapter.At present, the remote network laboratory has been put into trial operation in the campus LAN, and it has obtained the good operation effect. Lastly, the whole development work will be summarized, and the future outlook of further research direction will be given.
