Rare metals like titanium have been widely used in national defense, chemical and otherfields as its excellent characteirstics. Vacuum melting is the key process of rare metalsproduction. In this dissertation, the vacuum remelting arc tfirnace(VAR) was the researchobject,descirbed the hardwares composition and characteirstics of VAR and the principles ofarc melting, and the relation between arc voltage, arc current and the process were analyzed.This dissertation set up the first order inertia module melting rate with delay according to therequirements and characteristics for the main parameters of titanium, studied the controlstrategy based on the Fuzzy-PID, use the PROFIBUS to establish the system network.It analyzed PID controller and Fuzzy controller according to the character of the object,and combined with the requirements of rapid and stability for melting rate control. Thedissertation designed a Fuzzy-PID controller for the VAR, the control effect was simulatedthrough simulation sotfware.The PROFIBUS fieldbus was used as the system network structure for VAR. It wasassembled distirbuted control system on the basis of ifeldbus with IPC, PLC and intelligentinstruments to improve the stability and immunity. The HMI was designed by InTouchconfiguration sotfware, IPC collected process parameters and system status, which improvedthe operability of the system greatly.
