The magnetron is a kind of high-power microwave power source, and it hascharacteristics of high-power, high-frequency and wide bandwidth. Researchers athome and aboard have done a lot of work on the test methods, and that work continuesexpanding, accompanied by a variety of test equipment and test systems.Millimeter-wave magnetron (including coaxial magnetron) requires a lot on theelectrical parameters. It leads to the inaccuracies in practical tests on some of the majorelectrical performance, such as leakage pulses and leading-edge jitters. Thecomputer-assisted time-frequency domain test system can improve the efficiency andaccuracy of the test on magnetrons. This paper studied on the problems caused by current test methods, such as theinaccuracies in testing, inconvenience in measurement and production as well as theinconsistencies of the test results. And some solution to those problems has been putforward after taking full consideration to the latest testing technology progress, thedevice uses, supporting application systems based on device performance, qualities andreliability needs. The test results show that the accuracies and reliabilities in the test on leakagepulses and leading-edge jitters have been raised by the improved thermal measurementmethods discussed in the paper. And the computer-assisted test system makes itconvenient and flexible on testing. At the same time, it ensures the production for thestate-owned776factory of millimeter-wave magnetron with high confidentiality, highefficiency and the consistency of the test data.
