Pulse modulator is an important component for transmitter, such as pulsed radar. Transmitter's RF pulse quality mainly rely on the control of pulse modulator. The less of the pulsed during time, the wider of the bandwidth occupied by pulse. The research of small-size, low-cost and high-performance pulse modulator is very important. This dissertation is mainly on the analysis and experiment-design of millimeter-wave high speed pulse modulator. In addition, a small-size pulse modulator is designed, which works at Ka-band frequency.According to the technical demand, in the pulse generator, the technique of digital integrated circuit is used for the research. In this design, we used integrated circuit to enhance the stability of output circuit. We designed a pulse generator with adjustable amplitude. The rise and fall time were less than 4ns, pulse width was adjustable for 10ns~20ns. To improve modulation, the technology of paralleling PIN with input/output match configuration was used in designing modulator. A modulator which insert loss was 3dB and isolation was more than 20dB was designed. As the pulse modulator, the pulse response time was less than 4ns. The new characteristics of this thesis are improving the modulation without the traditional structure of the modulation technique and the realization of the small size and low cost of the system.Lastly, some advices have been presented on the design and experiment process, which will be useful to the further study of the system.
