As3G mobile communication networks become increasingly popular, people tend to use mobile network more and more frequently and the coverage degree and service quality of3G mobile communication networks have attacked growing attentions. In application of3G wireless network based on WCDMA, more and more complex actual environment, rapid growth of voice service, diversification of data business and excessively centralized large-scale clients will all lead to localized congestion of mobile communication network and decline of network performance metrics, which will then result in rise of call drop rate and drop of call completing rate, thus, user experience will consequently decreases. This thesis mainly studies the systematic and objective optimization of WCDMA by elaborating principle of WCDMA system and its physical layer of wireless interface as well as combining with the existing WCDMA network operation in a given region, analysis of signaling procedure of WCDMA, processing course of power control and proportion of soft handover.Through analysis of the results and users’feedback of daily network test, it can be found that the major problems affecting network performance and user experience are mainly caused by pilot frequency pollution, soft handover trouble and inadequate network coverage. This thesis puts forward solutions to these problems and implements rectification and improvement, so as to achieve the best running state of network.What have been accomplished in this thesis are as follows:1. To comprehensively master scale, environment and coverage condition of3G networks in a given region, analyze KPI indicators of this region thoroughly and grasp existing shortcomings of3G network there.2. The poor user experience conditions of3G networks, such as call drop and access failure, are respectively caused by pilot frequency pollution, soft handover trouble and inadequate network coverage. This thesis analyzes causes of these three main problems and their existent characteristics.3. To conduct drive test in hot spots, find out problems, formulate network optimization scheme and then carry out demonstration.4. To implement network optimization, mainly RF optimization in the current network and solve problems of wireless network coverage.5. To make statistics of overall network data and verify effect of network optimization through analysis of key indicators.This thesis mainly researches network optimization of WCDMA system. In the stage of network optimization of WCDMA system in a given region, through lots of experiments and repeated comparison, relevant experience and skills are summed up to give a reference to network optimization of WCDMA in other regions.
