Along with the rapid development of the broadcast TV digital technology, network technology and audio-visual new media business, speed up the construction of a high-quality news reporters talent team is particularly important. But to what kind of standard to selection and training of talents is attention for radio and TV industry. At present the researches of competency model are a lot, but radio and television journalists’competence model is rare. This research is based on the theory of previous studies and job analysis, behavioral event interview, expert opinion, checklists and questionnaire methods are adopted to initially establish the competency model of radio and television journalists.The initial competency checklist is formed through the BEI to12high performance and8ordinary performance and afterward encoding, large sample distribution of16PF questionnaire and its significance test of difference. Invite experts and radio and television journalists to screen and form the final competency checklist. The initial established radio and television journalists’competency model includes12features and clustered into4competency groups. The research results show that radio and television journalists’competency is divided into4competence groups:business ability, personal qualities, professional qualifications and background knowledge. Specifically including12competence features:language ability, team cooperation, relationship, planning ability, persistence, the initiative innovation, the psychology bearing capacity, strain and adapt ability, news sensitivity, news judgment ability, political literacy, knowledge breadth and depth.This research derives the relationship between each feature and its respective competency group as well as the relationship between competency groups through the structural equation model. The model has good construct validity and stability. The result could be applied to radio and television journalists selection, training and performance evaluation of management process, provide basis and reference for the development and management of the journalists talent in radio and TV industry.
