The Research Of Jiangnan Private Library And Cultural Heritage During The Ming And Qing Dynasties

Abstract:Ancient library collected and arranged rich classics, preserved and disseminated the profound Chinese culture, and accompanied with the development of the historical changes, it finally completed to the evolution of the modern library a hundred years ago. As a symbol of the classics preserved land and culture carrier, it reflects the long history and endless cultural character and culture spirit of the Chinese nation, and has boundless contribution of the Chinese cultural heritage and construction.This article first takes Jiangnan private library of the Ming and Qing dynasties as research background, by analyzing the reasons of its prosperity proves that the reasons for its move towards its peak are political and economic factors like great importance of the Ming and Qing rulers for collection of books, developed paper industry, printing industry, engraved book industry and book circulation in Jiangnan region, and culture factors like schooling, the imperial examination, and a strong academic research atmosphere. Second discusses the effectiveness of the cultural heritage for the Ming and Qing Dynasties private library from different aspects, proving that the Jiangnan private library played important functions in the classics collection and inheritance, the research of advancing the rule book, the compilation of publishing and culture spreading. The last part of the article is the key content, mainly discusses the history role of Ming and Qing Dynasties private library from the perspective of the heritage and cultural, it produces significant effects on the evolution to the modern library, boosting modern publishing industry as well as the formation and development of book collection for future generations. From the angle of the modern library, on the one hand, under the missionaries and church run by the library of demonstration and enlightenment, the transformation of the private library of Ming and Qing Dynasties had a role in the promotion the new library; for another, due to the New Deal in the Late Qing Reform Movement, the transformation of the private library to the new library had a positive impact. From the view of the modern publishing industry, the developed publishing technology and published circulation of Jiangnan private library plays important founding role in the development of modern publishing industry. From the perspective of collections culture, it brings a far-reaching historical impact on the formation and development for the future generations in the thinking of collection books and collection culture from the spirit of humanism of Ming and Qing Jiangnan bibliophile and the collection cultural theory of private possession books to public possession.
